88 Minutes

Posted by Chris in Review

Hm, not Al Pacino’s best work.  The movie had an ok story I guess but the acting was really bad by some characters.Jack Gramm (Al Pacino) is a college professor who also works with FBI as a forensic psychiatrist.  He testified in the past against a serial killer and sent him to jail.  The day of his execution he gets a phone call saying her has 88 minutes to live.  While running around all crazy like people are being killed in the way of the serial killer he sent to prison.I don’t know, it was an ok movie at times and other I couldn’t stand it.  Toss up.  Catch it on HBO.

Ruins, The

This movie was worth seeing, very gruesome.  Some parts of this movie made me uneasy while watching.A group of college kids are vacationing in Mexico where they meet up with some Germans and decide to go check out some off the map ruins.  They get to the ruins and are not allowed to leave by some villagers.  Crazy shit happens from there. You would think by now Americans would know not to go running off in foreign countries.  Did these kids not watch Hostel, or Touristas.  My grandma is German and I don’t even go to her house alone.Rent, no real gain from the big screen.

Stop Loss

I wonder how accurate this movie really is. It makes you think. It was a pretty good movie and if the information was accurate it is even better.A veteran returns from Iraq expecting to get out and return to normal life, only to find he has been “stop-lossed” back to Iraq. Instead of returning he goes awol. It also follows some friends from his home town that also served in Iraq and the effects it had on them.I liked it, I would only consider it a rental though.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Haha, this is the funniest movie since Superbad.  These guys come up with some of the craziest stuff.  If anyone had this type of humor outside of a movie you probably wouldn’t care for them too much but since it is on the big screen it is hilarious.Just a warning for the guys, there is WAY too much full frontal male nudity in this movie.  It made me uncomfortable a few times.  If you are trying to make it through life without seeing a naked man this isn’t the movie for you.  You would miss out on so much though.Peter takes a vacation to Hawaii after a breakup from his long term girlfriend and end up at the same hotel as her and her new boyfriend.  She is also on a hit tv show so everywhere he goes there is something to remind him of her.Go see this in theatres, I think it is worth the money. No real gain from the theatre but you will laugh the whole time.
